Hi! I’m Sarah.

I’m a dog trainer serving the Salt Lake City area.

Here is a little about me.

I live in Utah with my husband, 2 kids, and 3 dogs. I have been working with dogs for the last 8 years. I have had a love for dogs my whole life. When I was in college, I started working at a doggie daycare to help pay for school. I had big plans to be a graphic designer. I’ve always been artistic but very soon I realized, there was no other job for me. I found the art of dog training. I left my graphic job in 2013 and joined the wonderful world of dogs. I worked at that doggie daycare for a while which allowed me to learn so much about dog behavior. There were times I had to manage dozens of dogs at one time.

My husband and I adopted a dog with a lot of behavior issues. He could be very aggressive towards dogs and people and I thought I knew enough to fix it. Even though I had worked with many different dogs in a group setting at the daycare, I had no idea how to work with aggression one-on-one.

I reached out to many different trainers and learned many different methods that put a “band-aid” on the aggression. I didn’t understand what I was doing wrong or why these methods only took me so far. Sometimes they would work and sometimes they wouldn’t be reliable.

I finally found a dog training company that taught me so much more and actually helped me see the root cause of these issues. I learned things that I needed to change in myself as well as how to advocate for the type of dog I had. It was not an easy process but it fueled my love for dog training and dog psychology even more. I wanted to teach others how to work with difficult dogs because I knew what it was like to feel like you have tried everything. In a world with so much information, it can be hard to know what to do when our dogs act out.

A few months later, I started working for the dog training company that helped me with my dog. I worked with them for 6 years. It was such an amazing experience. We worked as a team training 30-40 dogs a month. Most dog trainers do not have opportunities where they can get that kind of experience in such a short period of time. We worked with puppies, therapy dogs, service dogs, aggressive dogs, protection dogs and all different breeds.

Over the years, I have had opportunities to learn from other amazing trainers. I have been able to attend dog training seminars and work with obedience clubs. They have helped me to learn and grow and even pushed me to compete in obedience with my personal dogs. It has helped me shape and continue to shape my own training style. I believe we are never done learning and I continually try to learn from new trainers so I can grow.
